About IFS
what is INTERNAL FAMIILY SYSTEMS (IFS) THERAPY?
Internal Family Systems refers to the many parts of self which arise through our experiences and traumas, and which conduct the ins and outs of our daily experiences. We are working with parts of ourselves every day, in direct and indirect ways. In IFS therapy, we explore parts of our inner world and their purposes, as well as work with these parts to help us build safety and security in the present. IFS helps us to regulate our systems by directly interacting with ourselves and our systems’ needs.
what to expect in an IFS session
In your Internal Family Systems (IFS) session, we will engage in a collaborative, client-led process in which you will be identifying and sharing parts of your internal world (e.g., inner critic, managers, etc.). In this approach, we are methodically turning inward to focus on bodily sensation, and to foster curiosity and compassion, for the purpose of healing wounded parts and ultimately regulating the nervous system.
